Lima airport

Well I am getting quite used to sitting in airports now. The chairs are so nice and hard! We got up at 3am to get to the airport in time to make our 6am flight to Cuzco, waited in line, got our boarding pass and went to the gate and sat, finaly they let us know our flight had been cancelled due to rain. Sweet! So they funnel us to pick our bags up from the baggage area and dont you know, we have to get back in line to get booked on a new flight. This would have been ok except that they had only one person working the counter in the specific line they instructed us to go to... and there was about 200 people waiting with huge carts of luggage. It was taking around 10 to 15 min per group/family. So I stood in this line for about an hour and a half before getting a new ticket to Cuzco. We are loosing half a day but oh well, what are you going to do right. Now what makes so much sense is that we (meening me) get to wait in another line to get the airport tax sticker back so we dont have to pay twice, then wait in another line to get to the room where you have to go to wait in another line at the security check point. I think I am growing fond of waiting in lines. I almost got in a really long line just for fun. I wondered what the person I finally got to talk to would say about my line waiting for no reason.

I am slowly loosing my mind, thats all it is. I guess it could be worse. Thing is Im not going to let it get me down, even if this new flight gets cancelled I will just have to do it all again, with a smile on my face. I feel so lucky to be able to fly in the first place. Some folks have to wait in line for hours just to get rice. So many upset people around me grumbling and moaning about how terrible it is to be SO inconvenienced! I would rather take the pilots word if its not safe to fly then so be it.

One nice thing is that when we were outside chillin a guy came up to us and offered a hostle in Cuzco for $15 a night! Sweet deal, airport transport and free breakfast too! I am pretty stoked to just get some sleep within the next 5 hours. I am loopy with fatigue. Standing in line for several hours has a way of bringing on the tired. Daddy is in the corner snoring! Again I say I wish I could fall asleep like that.

Well, I dont really have much to say. Not much has happened since my last post. I still miss Lauren like crazy, wish so bad she could have come on this trip.

  1. So much time in line? Do you have a book to read?

I recommend Dan Simmons' Hyperion books. Excellent, long, and you should be able to find them even in Peru.
